Top H-1B Visa Sponsors 2024: Indian & US Tech Giants Lead the List

As the global technology sector continues to rely heavily on skilled professionals, H-1B visa sponsorship data for fiscal year 2024 reveals the dominance of both Indian and American companies in hiring foreign talent. This development coincides with discussions on immigration policy and skilled workforce contributions, key themes during Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025, also known as NRI Day.
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) approved 53,665 H-1B visas for the top 10 employers in FY 2024. Leading the list was Amazon.com Services LLC, headquartered in Seattle, which accounted for 9,265 approved petitions, representing 17.3 per cent of the total visas among the top 10.
India-based companies continue to play a pivotal role in the H-1B program, reflecting their reliance on skilled professionals to meet global business demands. Bengaluru-headquartered Infosys Limited ranked second, with 8,140 H-1B approvals, or 15.2 per cent of the top 10 total. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), based in Mumbai, secured fifth place with 5,274 approvals, while HCL America Inc., a subsidiary of HCL Technologies, rounded out the list with 2,953 visas.
Prominent U.S. technology companies also ranked high. Cognizant Technology Solutions, headquartered in Teaneck, New Jersey, secured third place with 6,321 approved visas, accounting for 11.8% of the total. Google LLC (5,364 visas), Meta Platforms Inc. (4,844 visas), and Microsoft Corporation (4,725 visas) also featured prominently, emphasizing their dependence on global talent to drive innovation.
Apple Inc., headquartered in Cupertino, California, received 3,873 H-1B approvals, while IBM Corporation, based in Armonk, New York, secured 2,906. Together, these firms highlight the significant contributions of foreign professionals to the U.S. economy and innovation ecosystem.
India remains the largest recipient of H-1B visas, with over 70 per cent of approvals consistently going to Indian nationals. The H-1B visa program remains a focal point in U.S. immigration policy debates. With new political leadership taking office, discussions on potential reforms are anticipated, further influencing the dynamics of skilled immigration.
